Employment supports

Getting a job is one thing. Keeping it, and enjoying it, is another. We help with both.

Before and afterSupport does not stop the day you start. The first weeks on the job are where it counts.
Adjustments handledWe will talk to an employer with you, or for you, whichever you prefer.
Transport countsGetting there is often the real barrier. We treat it as part of the job, not an afterthought.

What it actually looks like

Support before, during and after you start work, for as long as it is useful.

  • Working out what sort of work would actually suit you
  • Resumes, applications and getting ready for interviews
  • Practising the parts that make you nervous
  • Support in the first weeks on the job while you settle in
  • Talking to an employer about adjustments, with you or for you
  • Sorting out transport so getting there is not the barrier
Being placed in a job you hate helps nobody, and it usually does not last. We would rather take longer and find something you are actually interested in.

Work you want, not just any work

If a job turns out to be wrong, that is information, not failure. We start again without any lectures and without treating it as a mark against you.

Plenty of people arrive here having been placed somewhere unsuitable by a service measured on placements. We are not measured on placements.

What we help with

  • Working out what work would suit you.
  • Applications, resumes and interview practice.
  • The first weeks on the job.
  • Adjustments, transport and keeping the job.

What we will not do

  • Push you into a placement to hit a number.
  • Speak to an employer without your say so.
  • Treat a job that did not work as your failure.
  • Promise an outcome we cannot control.

Who it is usually for

People whose plan includes employment supports, whether that is a first job, a return to work, or holding on to a job that has become hard.

Common questions

Does this cover study as well as work?Yes. The group covers employment or higher education, so support around starting or continuing study sits here too.
Do I have to tell my employer about my disability? That is entirely your decision and we will not make it for you. If you do want adjustments discussed, we can do that with you in the room or on your behalf.
What if I already have a job that is going badly? Then this is the right support. Keeping a job is as much a part of this group as finding one, and it is the part people ask for too late.
How long does support last? For as long as it is useful and your plan funds it. There is no fixed exit point, and no pressure to end it before you are ready.
