Transport takes planningCommunity access here needs more thought than in the inner suburbs. We plan around it rather than pretending it is simple.

The area we cover from here

Our Campbelltown work covers Ingleburn, Minto, Leumeah, Glenfield, Macquarie Fields, Bradbury, Ambarvale, Rosemeadow, Airds, Ruse, Claymore and Eagle Vale, along with Raby and Eschol Park.

Macarthur is often under served. Providers list it on their websites and then quietly decline the referrals, because they never built a team out here. We have capacity across the region right now, with workers matched to it rather than sent down the motorway from somewhere else.

Plenty of providers list every suburb in New South Wales and then staff none of them properly. We publish where we actually have people, we date it, and right now Macarthur is open.

What we help with in Campbelltown

The same eleven registration groups we hold everywhere.

A typical week in Macarthur

Most weeks are built around a few fixed points rather than a full timetable. A morning routine two or three days a week with the same worker. A block of household support. One or two outings, which out here almost always means somewhere reached by car.

The difference from the inner suburbs is that everything takes longer, so fewer and better beats more and fragile. One outing a week that reliably happens is worth more than three that keep getting cancelled because the travel was never realistic.

Shifts are usually two hours or longer, and out here that matters more than elsewhere. A one hour shift with thirty minutes of travel either side is not a good use of anyone’s funding, and we will say so rather than book it.

Getting out when everything is spread out

Community participation works differently in Macarthur. Distances are longer, services are further apart, and a trip that would take twenty minutes in the inner west can eat most of an afternoon here. Ignoring that produces plans that look good on paper and never happen.

Macarthur Square, the Campbelltown Arts Centre, the leisure centre and the station are the usual anchors. For participants working on independent travel, the T8 line gives short repeatable trips, which is the only way that skill actually builds. If transport is the real barrier rather than the support itself, we will say so, because that is a different problem with a different solution.

Leaving school and what comes next

Macarthur has a lot of families thinking about the transition out of school, and it is one of the moments where the wrong support does real damage. The gap between a structured school week and an unstructured one is abrupt, and it is much easier to plan for six months out than to repair afterwards.

Life stages and transition is one of the eleven groups we hold. In practice the useful work starts before the last term, building the routines and the travel confidence that will still be there in February when the timetable has gone.

Why providers under serve this region

It is worth being plain about, because it explains a lot of the frustration families here describe. A provider based in the inner city can serve Macarthur only by paying someone to drive a long way, which either burns the participant’s funding on travel or costs the provider margin. Most solve it by taking the referral and then filling shifts inconsistently.

The only arrangement that works is hiring locally. That takes longer to build and it is why we say no to areas we cannot staff. Right now Macarthur is one we can.

What it costs and how it gets paid

Supports are charged against your plan at or below the price limits the NDIA publishes in its Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. No registered provider may charge above them for a given support item.

We work with agency managed, plan managed and self managed plans. That changes who we invoice, not what you get. The same shift can be invoiced at different amounts depending on the day and time, because weekday, evening, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday rates differ. There is a full explanation in how NDIS price limits work.

We are open in this area right now. All eleven services are accepting referrals. The capacity page is reviewed every Monday and carries the date, so you can check that for yourself before you ring.

Common questions

Do you actually have workers out here?Yes. This is a fair question in Macarthur because a lot of providers claim the region without staffing it, which is why we publish and date our capacity rather than asking you to trust us.
Will travel time come out of my funded hours? We match workers to where you live specifically so it does not, as far as that is possible. If an arrangement would burn your funding on travel, we will tell you rather than quietly billing it.
Can you help with leaving school and what comes next?Yes, that is life stages and transition. Start the conversation before the last term rather than after it.
How soon could supports start?Usually within our normal onboarding window, since we have capacity here. You will hear back from a named person within four hours on a business day.
Do you go further south than Campbelltown? We cover Sydney metropolitan. Camden and the immediate surrounds are usually workable, further south generally is not, and we would rather say so than take a referral we cannot staff.
Can I request a worker of a particular gender?Yes, and for personal care it is a normal request. It goes in the notes permanently.
Are you registered?Yes. Registration number 4-LOHEV53, certified against the NDIS Practice Standards. Check us on the NDIS Commission register before you commit.
